Process

Working iteratively with you and your budget to design and build a beautiful outdoor space, we’ll consider the aesthetic and functional constraints -  how you hope to interact with the space, and a full vision for the overall style and vintage of the building.

I prefer to work with plants that tolerate the extreme temperature swings we see in the Central Texas area - freeze and drought tolerant…generally low maintenance. 

We identify the built elements, hardscape and terracing, layout and spatial configuration that make your outdoor space an extension of your home or business. These could include steel terracing, stone boulders, decks, pergolas and shade structures, formed concrete elements, water features and pools, sod or turf…

I design and propose the vision, once agreed upon, I offer project management services working with preferred builders and trades to implement the vision.

Let’s Get Into Something

    Consultation

    Meeting on site to walk through your space, discuss your plans and budget. No fee in the central Austin area, $150 outside the central loop. I find modest projects begin at $10k, and design services start at 20% of project cost.

    Design

    First round design includes 2d or 3d renderings of the space. I allot time for one client iteration. From here, design time is billable at $65/hr.

  • Shovel icon

    Implementation

    I prefer to be involved in managing the installation. But I rely on a set list of preferred welders, builders, gardeners and landscape installers, irrigators, electricians, plumbers, pool builders, masons. I’m happy to project manage for a 20% fee or we can arrange direct payments through each trade.
